There is a wide variety of ways and settings in which New Arts North’s projects take place, as listed in the ‘about us’ section.

After initial contact, we tend to arrange a short consultation period, where we gather information about the setting, ideas, culture and requirements of the receiving venue and potential participants. NAN works in a way where each project is unique. The project devising stage begins by talking to the project partner, and finding out exactly what is required. This is then refined and the projects are devised with the participants, and with the participants needs in mind.

All work produced is wholly new and original, and therefore directly reflects, and can be attributed to, members of the community and their identities, culminating in shared ‘stories of community’.

This creates particularly resonant arts projects which engender the following:

• Create positive partnerships with community groups and schools
• Promotes the creative arts through meaningful facilitation
• Increases participation in the creative arts.
• Increases in skills base
• Empowers participants through the creative arts

• Increases social capital through social creativity
• Leads to an increased chance of these activities becoming self-sustaining

We can offer taster days to assist this process. We are then very happy to assist with funding acquisition in most cases.

We, and all the freelance community arts practitioners with which we collaborate, charge the Arts Council recommended day rate of £200. Materials and mileage (within predetermined budgets) are added to this.
